Covering questions worth asking
Should we choose film, polycarbonate panels or glass?
Compare the existing structure, support spacing, fixing method, thermal and optical needs, handling weight, maintenance access and total installed cost. Flexible film and rigid panels require different installation details; glass needs its own support and breakage assessment. Ask for product-specific evidence instead of treating a material label as a performance guarantee.
Does a light-transmission figure tell the whole story?
No. Ask for the method, sample condition and wavelength basis where supplied, and distinguish total light transmission from diffusion. Dirt, aging, frame shading and installation can alter the actual growing environment. Your crop adviser should review the requirement; this sourcing guidance is not agronomic design.
How should we compare a budget-friendly option?
Keep thickness, roll size, fixing scope, packing, quantity and delivery basis consistent. Separate any change in optical features or warranty terms. Compare material, transport, handling, installation and replacement access together. A premium preference is not a verified supplier grade, and a smaller material price does not establish a lower total cost.
Which documents should accompany the request?
Ask for the proposed product data sheet, packing details, installation guidance and written warranty scope. The relevant project documents depend on the exact covering, frame and US destination. The horticulture reference informs requirement vocabulary; it does not endorse a supplier or validate this site’s engineering capability.
